  • To use the Kits for the Nikon 5000 / Nikon V /Canonscan
    FSU4000, and Minolta Scanners you need Only the mounted
    slide film holders provided with the scanner. No extra holders are
    necessary.  
  • It is possible to scan strip film in scanners that position the holder
    horizontally instead of vertically, because the lid is not necessary for
    the control of the holder within the scanner, as for example the
    MInolta Scan Elite II pictured above.
  • With 35 mm Nikon scanners equipped with an FH-3 Holder it is
    possible to remove the lid or flap of the holder to fit the scanning
    glass provided. In this case the strip film kit 2.3 can be used.  First
    verify that the holder cover or flap can be removed, and if you can,
    order the 2.3 strip film kit.

  • Fluid   scanning, has these advantages:
  1. achieves a flat film plane and
  2. Eliminates Newton Rings.
  3. By placing the film under the scanning glass, additional refraction is
    avoided, and the image has a clear path to the sensors
  4. The fluid scanning kits are cheaper and more effective than the
    glass holder.
  • Other Facts about using the Single Slide Kits
  • What about fluid dripping inside the scanner?
  • A concern with beginners is that the fluid will drip inside the scanner. However,
    the fluid mount is totally dry externally before it goes into the scanner and then,
    the only existing fluid is internal: A micro-layer between film and glass, film and
    overlay.
  • What about Image quality output from a fluid scan from the these scanners?
  • The special quality of a drum scan stems from the fact that drum scanners are
    all fluid scanners. Fluid scanning upgrades all these scanners significantly, and
    the output -short of turning out central station filling murals, are outstanding.
  • Remember to order spare plates.  Save time by assembling
    one mount while scanning another.
